Imaging Studies
Abiant performs imaging studies in all phases of clinical development and in late
preclinical development.  Abiant can provide:

    Study design
    Radioligand selection
    Radioligand and synthesis development
    Clinical site selection and management
PET site validation and data collection
    Data processing
    Kinetic modeling and data analysis
    ICH compliant report generation.
Biodistribution  (Tissue and Organ Penetration)

The high sensitivity of PET imaging allows compound
distribution to be detected in vivo using very low
doses.  This approach can help to select or reject
compounds very early in development.
Receptor Occupancy

The displacement of receptor-specific
radioligands by a compound provides quantitative
data on in vivo pharmacokinetic properties that
include dose-occupancy relationship, regional
specificity, and kinetics at the target site.
Functional Effects

Measurement of glucose metabolism using 2-[18F]-fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose (FDG) with PET
reflects changes in CNS function that directly relate to clinical effects.  Since glucose is the primary
energy source for all neuronal activity, measurement of its metabolism captures all downstream
neuronal drug effects, regardless of mechanism and pathway. Functional imaging studies can be
used during all phases of clinical development to: assess central effect, determine regions of
effect, identify dose response, and compare compounds - - all without dependence upon new
radiotracer development or defining the mechanisms of action involved.  FDG PET has also
shown utility in the detection of dementias.
